A weekly companion for people who want justice and a vibrant life.
Stay human. Stay in it.
Let’s talk about what actually works.
Weekly episodes on the real mechanics of collective liberation: culture, conflict, repair, leadership, and the inner life required to keep showing up.
The Joyous Justice Podcast is for people who want liberation and lives and careers that are worthy of cherishing and savoring. Not perfection. Not performance. Practice. If you’ve ever felt the quiet pressure to prove your commitment through exhaustion, this is a place to exhale and get real about what sustains us, and what is actually in the best interest of our values and aspirations.
Each week, April N. Baskin offers grounded reflections and conversations—sometimes solo, sometimes with trusted guests—on the inner and outer mechanics of collective liberation and living the best, most pleasurable lives we can live.
We talk about things like:
Language for hard conversations (and what to do after them)
Tools for staying present when you feel activated
Insights on power, belonging, and group dynamics
Stories that normalize complexity (without excusing harm)
Practices that make leadership more livable
Wholeness and joy as strategies—not rewards you earn later

The Podcast’s Herstory
The Joyous Justice Podcast didn’t start here—it started with me following an intuitive nudge and launching it with a relatively new and beloved colleague, Tracie Guy-Decker. She quickly became my esteemed and wonderful Senior Partner and Joyous Justice.
Both following April’s lead, and in deep partnership with Tracie, we joyously launched Jews Talk Racial Justice with April and Tracie in late 2019 and co-created a lot of magic and insight together.
Tracie has since transitioned off the show and the Joyous Justice full-time team on the best of terms in January 2024. We sunset our full-time partnership with a lot of love, respect, and appreciation, and transitioned to solely a twice-monthly administrative collaboration.
After an almost two-year break as April and her beloved transitioned from Senegal (back) to the United States, the podcast continues to evolve—expanding its conversations, its practices, and its reach—while honoring the roots, love, and juicy metaphors that made it possible.
