How Pricing for Works for
1:1 Coaching & Strategic Mentorship!
April Offers 3 Primary Pricing Tiers
I believe in practicing pricing transparency, particularly given that coaching and strategic mentorship relies on trust. Here, you will find clear pricing and multiple tiers.* In order to understand them, please read and review them mindfully, noting that:
When setting my prices, I consider the value I’m providing, my expertise, my own needs, and my capacity. I also consider accessibility and equity. When you hire me as your coach, you are also supporting my ability to continue doing unpaid labor and leadership in service of our communities and movements: Thank you!
I use the following “green bottle” visual model as resource to help with recognizing various financial circumstances.
Standard Rate
This is my standard rate for 1:1 Strategic Coaching & Mentorship, which includes all of the group coaching resources, 2 one-one-one sessions monthly which includes next steps for you, and spot coaching and mentorship as needed in between group and individual coaching sessions. It’s my expectation that everyone begin by considering your financial ability to pay my standard rate, which includes (re)considering organizational budgetary allocations and what line items can be appropriately applied to this caliber of investment in leading-edge leadership, as well as considering, pulling from savings, shared household resources, or budgeting/prioritizing differently.
These are all practices I have engaged in, to my betterment and growth, in alignment with my sovereign evolution, as well as interconnected solidarity with comrades and in service to the liberation movements with which I align (Black Lives Matter, Climate Justice, Decolonization, Jewish Liberation, Women’s March, etc.). And no, none of the money I’ve invested was “inherited.” It was my saved or earned income as a Black & Cherokee woman and strategic choices I made to dramatically reduce my expenses so I could fund the next stages of my career rather than wait for those with more resources to determine the feasibilty of my desired trajectory.
Community Investor — Wealth Sharing & Community Care
Perhaps you’re fortunate to have ample resources to readily pay my standard rate, and you’d like to additionally support a low-income BIPOC, Queer and/or disabled person’s access to our work, as well as support Joyous Justice's sustainability and growth. Thank you! When you choose this rate, you are directly sponsoring a radical sliding scale spot and greater financial stability for Joyous Justice for the duration of our work together.
Subsidized Rate - Inspired, Impactful Leader (Not Available Yet)
This rate is NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. IT WILL BE ONCE IT IS subsidized by those investing at the community care & wealth-sharing level and this option is available as funding is available.
As a reminder, regular weekly access to April via live classes, group coaching and Grounding & Growing’s leading-edge and emergent curriculum is available at a more accessible rate of $250/month.
You're eligible to apply for the subsidized rate if all listed of the following criteria apply:
You identify as a BIPOC/person of the global majority, queer, and/or disabled leader, and
You are deeply familiar with Joyous Justice's existing free and low-cost body of work (podcasts, previous free challenges and workshops, etc), invested your time and energy into studying it, and already implemented it to make concrete changes in your life and leadership. We are particularly looking for leaders who demonstrate evidence of being able to create huge amounts of value with Joyous Justice's free resources, and therefore are likely to continue doing so inside Grounded & Growing.
Between your current access to income, shared financial resources, and additional training funds through your work and/or local governments, you can’t access the standard group or 1:1 coaching package rate. For you, paying the full rate would lead to an inability meet basic needs (food, housing etc) and financial hardship* (see below).
You’re an accomplished & dedicated leader/activist. April's powerful coaching & strategic mentorship would not only support and accelerate your leadership trajectory, but would also be put to incredibly vital and leveraged use, given the critically important and sacred work you do in the world.
That is why you're seeking April's high level of support above and beyond Grounding & Growing's robust group coaching package that's priced at the more accessible rate of $250/month.
If you honestly do not (yet) meet all of the following criteria, we strongly encourage you to use the free resources Joyous Justice offers.
*Financial Sacrifice, Financial Hardship, and Wealth Sharing
Kindly take note that I differentiate between financial hardship and financial sacrifice, and it is essential for you to take this distinction into account as you select the appropriate rate for your circumstances.
Financial Sacrifice implies making certain choices, such as drawing from your savings, reducing expenditures on travel or leisure activities, utilizing resources available through your partnership or family, or saving less than your usual amount, all with the intention of collaborating with me. These sacrifices are significant and personal decisions you make to invest in yourself and the journey we are about to embark on together.
On the other hand, Financial Hardship is when paying April’s standard rate would render it impossible for you to meet your basic living expenses, including necessities like food, utilities, and transportation to work. My accessible rate (or radical sliding scale) is designed to ensure that your financial sacrifice does not escalate into financial hardship.
If you find yourself fortunate enough to afford my standard rate, I kindly request that you contemplate whether you are willing to go beyond and contribute within my wealth-sharing rate, granting on-going professional development, education, group coaching, and/or 1:1 coaching & strategic mentorship access to exceptional leaders with systemically targeted identities and who currently have limited access to financial resources.
Final Note: Your Mindful & Honest Consideration is Appreciated
I do not demand any form of verification or documentation; these rates are established on the basis of mutual trust and open communication. However, please be aware that I am unable to accommodate everyone at subsidized rates. Therefore, if you have the means to pay my standard rates and inappropriately claim a subsidized spot or take advantage of the radical sliding scale, you would be depriving someone in genuine need of an opportunity.
